Alhambra inspired design

Finally! After 15 months of teaching myself Substance Designer (and 1,000+ hours) - I can create the stuff that I wanted to make to start with!!! I never really thought that I would get this far. Super excited - hoping to gain even more skill at this. I really enjoy using this software.

I bought a bunch of fine art how-to-paint books - best purchase ever. The books have helped me visualize how to make a painting. They have also helped with adding variety to my coloring - which I think has contributed a lot to getting a “real” look. Did not expect that.

One thing I really like about this software - is that it forces you to make and mold shapes. My whole life, my art has been limited to line art - messy sketches because I have no patience. And this software has really forced me out of that mental space - which is what I wanted - finally grow as an artist.

And a little (fully procedural) background scenery. It is supposed to be the tower on the Iglesia de Santa María de la Encarnación at the Alhambra.

Everything is fully procedural except the aqua zellige tile design which I drew up in AutoCAD.
