An attempt at Anatolian iznik style tiles. Somehow the height map just never came out right. The red hearts got too much height and the tile itself came out too flat. I looked sort of ok on the 3Dcube in Substance, but when I rendered it with Photoshop, it just looks terrible. Putting an object with a soft rounded edge onto a flattish surface is challenging.

I also explored putting a shadow and light streak that might be on an interior wall from sun shining through windows above. I like the effect because it gives a sparkle of life, but I also don’t like it because it confuses the eye.
